Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday announced plans to develop Bapu Ghat, a memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, as part of the Musi river redevelopment initiative.
While speaking with reporters, Reddy highlighted that the site, located on the banks of the highly polluted Musi river, would undergo significant transformation, including the establishment of a Gandhi Ideology Centre.
The state government aims to rejuvenate the Musi river to enhance the living conditions for residents along its banks and to promote the growth of Hyderabad, PTI reported.
Reddy further took a dig at opposition parties, including the BRS and BJP, for their objections to the Musi project, questioning why they oppose efforts to improve the lives of those living near the river.
The inhabitants of the Musi river bank are not there by choice, Reddy said. He urged the BRS to share its vision for the river’s future if it disagrees with the government’s plans.
Additionally, Reddy announced that the government would source water from the Godavari river via the Mallanna Sagar reservoir to the Gandipet and Himayat Sagar reservoirs, which supply drinking water to Hyderabad. He indicated that tenders for this initiative would be called in the first week of November.
Addressing the previous BRS regime’s backlog of bills, the CM assured that his government is working to clear them. He also acknowledged a decline in the real estate sector both in Telangana and across the country.
