After a dramatic “seesaw battle” between Mahagathbandhan’s CM face Tejashwi Yadav and BJP’s Satish Kumar, the result from Raghopur is finally out. The Raghopur Assembly constituency – an RJD stronghold in Bihar’s Tirhut region – has been won by Tejashwi Yadav.
The election has been called, and Tejashwi Yadav has won by a margin of close to 14,000 votes. Raghopur assembly constituency, and Tejashwi Yadav has secured over 1.1 lakh votes. BJP’s Satish Kumar has lost from this constituency. He was leading, trailing, leading, trailing – and managed to secure 1,02,587 votes.
Independent candidate Baliram Singh ranks third, although nowhere close to Tejashwi Yadav and Satish Kumar. He has just won over 3,040 votes.
Jan Suraaj Party’s candidate is on fourth, having secured just 2,371 votes and Raju Kumar from the Aam Aadmi Party with just 1,287 votes.
The seat has been previously held by Tejashwi Yadav, who won it in 2015 and 2020 on an RJD ticket. His key opponent, Satish Kumar, famously defeated former Chief Minister Rabri Devi by a margin of 13,006 votes on a JD(U) ticket in 2010.
In 2020, Tejashwi won this seat by securing 97,404 votes and in 2015, by winning the trust of 91,236 voters. Tejashwi Yadav, currently the INDIA bloc’s Chief Minister’s face, has served as the deputy chief minister of Bihar – twice.
