Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin inaugurated 127 completed development projects worth Rs 43.58 crore and distributed welfare aids totaling Rs 154 crore to 14,525 beneficiaries in the district on Thursday.
Stalin also laid foundation stones for two new projects, including buildings at the Government Arts and Science College in Thirukkattupalli and a compound wall and indoor stadium.
The projects are estimated to cost Rs 28.26 crore, with Rs 16.35 crore allocated for the college buildings and Rs 11.91 crore for the stadium facilities, PTI reported.

In his address, Stalin announced that the first phase of an industrial park would soon be established at Sengipatti on 172 acres, aiming to create 30,000 jobs in the district.
He encouraged beneficiaries to share the state government’s achievements with friends and communities, calling them “the face of the Dravidian model of governance” and “brand ambassadors” of government initiatives.
“You are the brand ambassadors of the government. So, tell your friends about the initiatives and achievements of the government,” the deputy chief minister said, and added that the government was always ready to serve the people at their call.
