Seven workers, including five women, were killed in firecracker unit accident in Tamil Nadu’s Sivakasi on Thursday afternoon. Three people were also injured, including one who is critically injured, police said.
About 10 workers were employed at the private firecracker manufacturing unit at Sengamalapatti near Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district.
As soon as the blaze broke, police and fire service personnel rushed the injured to the government hospital.
The cause of the fire was being ascertained.
