Popular CM Mood of the Nation opinion poll: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) chief Naveen Patnaik has emerged as the most popular Chief Minister of the country, followed by Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, according to an opinion poll. Patnaik rating stood at 52.7 per cent, while Adityanath’s rating was at 51.3 per cent, as per the Mood of the Nation poll which is conducted by the India Today Group.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma holds the third position in terms of popularity with a rating of 48.6 per cent, and his Gujarat counterpart Bhupendra Patel ranks fourth. His popularity rating stood at 42.6 per cent.

Manik Saha occupies the fifth position with a popularity of 41.4 per cent. The Congress-turned-BJP leader, Saha assumed his second term as Tripura’s CM in May 2022.

As per the Mood of the Nation poll findings, if the Lok Sabha elections were conducted today, the BJP-led NDA is projected to maintain its hold on power by securing 335 seats. This tally comfortably exceeds the 272-seat mark required for forming a government. However, the NDA alliance is anticipated to experience a decrease of 18 seats compared to the previous election. On the other hand, the most significant beneficiary is predicted to be the INDIA coalition, suggesting a potential shift in political dynamics.

In the forecasted seat distribution by party, the BJP is expected to secure 304 out of 543 seats, indicating its ability to achieve a simple majority on its own. This projection surpasses its 2019 tally of 303 seats by one.

The Mood of the Nation poll featured in the India Today group’s February 2024 edition gathered data from 35,801 respondents across all Lok Sabha constituencies. This survey was conducted between December 15, 2023, and January 28, 2024. The poll’s projections are based on the scenario of elections taking place in January 2024, whereas the Lok Sabha elections are slated for April-May this year.
