The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Criminal Investigation Department has filed a charge sheet against former MP Prajwal Revanna on charges of rape and his father, MLA H D Revanna, for sexual harassment.

The SIT, which is investigating four cases against Prajwal, submitted a charge sheet exceeding 2,000 pages, which includes statements from around 150 witnesses.

This charge sheet, submitted to a special court for public representatives, relates to an alleged sexual assault on a domestic help employed by the family.

It contains detailed evidence, including spot inspection reports, biological, physical, scientific, mobile, digital, and other forms of data. Expert opinions were also considered before filing the charge sheet, according to the SIT.

MLA Revanna, who is the son of former Prime Minister and JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda, faces charges under sections 354 and 354(A) of the IPC. His 33-year-old son, Prajwal, is facing more serious charges, including sections 376, 376(2)(K), 354, 354(A), and 354(B) of the IPC.

The first complaint against the father-son duo was lodged by a domestic help, who is also a relative of MLA Bhavani Revanna. She accused them of repeated acts of sexual harassment.

Prajwal Revanna, who had recently run as an NDA candidate from Hassan in the Lok Sabha elections, was defeated. Before the second phase of the election on April 26, explicit videos allegedly showing Prajwal sexually assaulting multiple women surfaced on social media.

Following the release of the videos, Nagalakshmi Chowdhary, Chairperson of the Karnataka State Commission for Women, called for an investigation, which led the Congress government to launch a probe.
