Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson and former Union minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain suffered a heart attack on Tuesday. He was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai where he underwent an angioplasty procedure.

While there is no official word on his health status, sources said Hussain’s condition is believed to be stable.

Hussain, 54, is a widely recognised BJP leader who has served in various capacities in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government at the Centre and the Bihar government under the NDA government of the BJP and JD(U).

A Bihar native, he has served as a Lok Sabha MP from the Kishanganj and Bhagalpur Lok Sabha constituencies. He currently serves as a member of the Bihar Legislative Council.
