A Bengaluru court on Friday remanded suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna to police custody till June 6. After a medical examination, the SIT produced him before the court, which ordered seven days of police custody of the JD(S) MP.

Revanna was arrested upon his return from Germany today, a month after he left India in the wake of explicit videos of his alleged actions doing the rounds in Karnataka’s Hassan. The suspended JD(S) MP is facing sexual abuse allegations.

A team of female cops ‘welcomed’ Prajwal Revanna upon his arrival in Bengaluru. The police team was deputed to execute a warrant and take the suspended JD(S) MP to the CID office for interrogation.

For a little over a month, he evaded summons and stayed out of India. Revanna (33) is the grandson of JD(S) supremo and ex-Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.

He landed in Bengaluru past midnight from Germany’s Munich and was immediately taken into custody by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

The NDA Lok Sabha candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency was arrested after completing the due process, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said and added that further legal procedures will follow.

“Prajwal Revanna landed around 12.40-12:50 am from Germany’s Munich. As there was an arrest warrant against him, SIT accordingly arrested him and took him into custody, and further legal procedures they will follow today,” Parameshwara said, reported PTI.

Prajwal’s advocate said the JD(S) leader was extending full cooperation to the SIT probe and cautioned against any media trial in the case.

On May 29, Prajwal filed an anticipatory bail plea at the Principal City and Sessions Court for Elected Representatives.  Prajwal has so far been booked in three cases of sexual assault. There are also charges of rape against the JD(S) MP.
