Over 5,000 folk tribal artists showcased 45 traditional dance forms from across India during the 76th Republic Day celebrations. For the first time, the performer covered the entire Kartavya Path, ensuring an immersive and equal viewing opportunity for all the guests. The performance titled ‘’Jayati Jaya Mamah Bharatam’’, was organised by the Sangeet Natak Academy was 11-minute long. This vibrant display of India’s rich folk and tribal traditions paid homage to 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Bisra Munda.
The dance performance was choreographed in a such manner that its exhibit themes such as ‘Viksit Bharat’, ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ and ‘Viksit Bharat’. The stunning show was also a heartfelt ode to India’s artistic and cultural heritage.
The lyrics of for the dance performance was written by Subhash Sehgal and the music was given by renowned composer Shankar Mahadevan. He created the music by blending traditional rhythms with modern undertones. Artists were decked up in authentic costumes, headgear and jewellery. They also used traditional props like swords, spears and drums to bring the dances to life.
To raise the visual aspect of the performance, experts from National School of Drama designed more than 60 props including decorations for instrument. Traditional items like Poo Kavadi, Ambala Kavadi were made by them along with the puppets and floral elements.
The dance group represented India’s youth, empowerment of women, artistic legacy. The performers were from different regions of the country, weaving together an enchanting view unity in diversity.
For the first time, the presentation covered the entire Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to the C-Hexagon, this way every guest was equally able to enjoy the celebration of India’s rich heritage and cultural pride.
