Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday during a rally in Haryana’s Faridabad, shared his recent experience in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the transformation in the region following the abrogation of Article 370.

Recalling an encounter with a Muslim cleric during his visit, Adityanath said the Maulvi greeted him with “Ram Ram,” which, he claimed, symbolises the significant shift post-Article 370.

“I was in Jammu and Kashmir for the last two days for the assembly elections. It was raining there, so I went straight inside the airport. A man greeted me, saying ‘Yogi Sahab Ram Ram.’ Later, I realised he was a Maulvi. I was surprised to hear ‘Ram Ram’ from a Maulvi,” Adityanath told the gathering.

He attributed this interaction to the impact of Article 370’s abrogation, which, according to him, had brought about a newfound sense of unity.

The chief minister went on to emphasise the BJP’s role in maintaining communal harmony in Uttar Pradesh, noting that his government has seen no major communal violence during its tenure of over seven years. He also predicted that one day, with a stronger India and BJP, people across the country would be chanting “Hare Rama, Hare Krishna.”

In a sharp attack on the Congress, Adityanath blamed the party for India’s historical and national issues. “Congress is the name of problems. All the national problems are due to Congress. Partition of India, weakening India on the basis of caste, religion and language, pushing India into terrorism, naxalism, extremism and anarchy and spreading corruption, nepotism and nepotism, all of this is due to Congress. On the other side, there is BJP which is the solution (to the problems)”, he remarked.

Haryana is set to go to the polls on October 5 to elect its 90-member legislative assembly, with results to be declared on October 8.
