Crisis In Rajasthan Government: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday said that the Governor should convene a special Assembly session on Monday to discuss the prevailing political situation in the state. Gehlot said he had on Thursday night wrote a letter to the Governor but the latter is yet to respond. “We want to start the State Assembly session from Monday. Everything will be clear then. I had a telephonic conversation with the Governor and requested him to take a decision on this immediately. Now, we are going to meet him also,” he said. Gehlot’s remark comes hours after the Rajasthan High Court ordered status quo on Speaker CP Joshi’s proceedings against sacked deputy CM Sachin Pilot and 18 dissident Congress MLAs. A bench of Chief Justice Indrajit Mahanty and Justice Prakash Gupta also allowed the application moved by Pilot and others seeking impleadment of the Union of India as a party to the proceedings in the disqualification matter.

The rift between Gehlot and Pilot came out in open earlier this month after the SOG of state police served a notice to the then deputy CM, asking him to record his statement in an alleged bid to topple the Congress government. Pilot was later sacked as the deputy CM and Congress' Rajasthan chief. While Pilot and 18 MLAs belonging to his camp are staying at a resort near Gurugram, the legislators loyal to Ashok Gehlot camp have put up at a resort on the outskirts of capital Jaipur for the last one week.

CP Joshi had on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court against the HC’s order that restrained him till July 24 from deciding the disqualification notices he had issued to Sachin Pilot camp.
