A polling agent of a candidate died of a suspected cardiac arrest in Pali district, Jaipur, on Saturday. The agent has been identified as Shanti Lal.

Polling for the Rajasthan assembly elections commenced at 7 AM on Saturday. The incident occurred at booth number 47 in the Sumerpur assembly constituency.

According to officials, Shanti Lal collapsed at the polling center. He was transported to a nearby hospital and subsequently to the district hospital, where medical professionals declared him dead upon arrival.

“The suspected cause is a heart attack,” the official stated.

The party affiliation of the deceased polling agent remains unknown at this time.

The electoral process continues, with polling underway in 199 out of the 200 assembly constituencies in the state. Elections in Karanpur in Sriganganagar have been deferred due to the death of the Congress candidate.
