BRS working president KT Rama Rao called Congress leader Rahul Gandhi ‘pappu’, after the latter levelled corruption allegations on Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project.

Rahul Gandhi, on Thursday (November 2) called the Kaleshwaram project as “KCR’s family ATM” after visiting the Medigadda barrage.

“I visited the Medigadda barrage, which is a part of the corruption-ridden Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme in Telangana. Cracks have developed in multiple pillars because of shoddy construction with reports indicating that the pillars are sinking,” Gandhi wrote in a post on X, sharing some photographs, where Telangana state president Revanth Reddy can also be seen.

“KCR and his family are using the Kaleshwaram Project as their personal ATM to plunder the people of Telangana,” he added.

To Gandhi’s allegations, KTR called him “India’s Pappu” and Reddy as “Telangana’s Pappu”, and said that they were trying to “create fear” in the minds of people.

“Rahul Gandhi should either change the script or change the scriptwriter,” the BRS working president said.

Questioning Gandhi’s charge that Rs one lakh crore were looted by the BRS, Rao claimed that the total cost of the project was only Rs 80,000 crore, not even Rs one lakh crore.

In a post on X, Gandhi alleged on November 1, “The ‘Kaleshwaram ATM’ symbolised the massive Rs 1 lakh crore Kaleshwaram scam – the largest irrigation scam ever, masterminded by ‘Dorala’ KCR to bleed ‘Prajala’ and their money dry.”

The BRS leader also charged at Revanth Reddy reminding people of the cash-for-vote row and said he was more dangerous than Dawood Ibrahim or Charles Sobhraj.

He added that the Congress, which he dubbed as “scamgress” had indulged in innumerable scams in the past, including that of the National Herald where both Rahul Gandhi and chairman of Congress Parliamentary Party Sonia Gandhi have been named and should not even level corruption charges at the BRS.
