Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha said on Wednesday that the party plans to contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly Election on its own. His remarks follow Congress’s poor performance in the Haryana Assembly Election, where it faced a defeat by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which secured 48 seats and a comfortable majority.

Speaking to ANI, Chadha emphasized that AAP is fully capable of defeating the BJP on its own in Delhi. “I don’t think the Aam Aadmi Party needs any support or a partner in Delhi,” Chadha stated, adding that AAP has proven its strength by forming the government in Delhi three times, including the historic mandates of 2015 and 2020.

Chadha categorized Indian elections into two types, highlighting that in states like Delhi, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, regional parties such as AAP, DMK, and TMC can defeat the BJP without any external support. He contrasted this with states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, where Congress struggles to directly challenge the BJP.

Echoing Chadha’s sentiment, AAP National Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar also affirmed the party’s decision to contest the Delhi Assembly elections alone. “We will keep our heads down and let the work done over the last 10 years speak for itself,” she said, underscoring AAP’s focus on governance over political alliances.

The Delhi Assembly elections are expected to take place in early 2025, with AAP looking to replicate its 2020 performance, when it secured 62 out of 70 seats, leaving BJP with just eight.
