The driver of an Audi is accused of dragging a motorcyclist for over three kilometers on the car’s bonnet following an argument in Maharashtra’s Pune district, according to the police. The incident occurred on Sunday evening in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area.
Police later arrested the driver, Kamlesh Patil (23), along with his two associates, Hemant Mhalaskar (26) and Prathamesh Darade (22), who were in the vehicle at the time.
The victim, Zacheria Mathew, was riding his motorcycle when it was struck by the Audi in the Bijlinagar area. The reckless driving led to the motorcyclist being dragged along for several kilometers, police said.
“After getting down from his motorbike, Mathew approached the car occupants and sought an explanation. However, the three accused started abusing him and his friend, and also assaulted them,” an official from Nigdi police station said.
“Later, the car driver tried to hit the complainant (motorcyclist), leading him to fall on the bonnet. He then allegedly dragged him (Mathew) on the car’s bonnet for more than three km and sped away,” the official said.
Following the motorcyclist’s complaint, a case was filed against the three individuals in the car, including the driver, and they were arrested under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the official said.
