Since May 2023, Manipur has been plagued by intense ethnic violence between the Meitei community in the Imphal Valley and the Kuki-Zo tribal groups from surrounding hills. These include the Rs 3,600-crore Manipur Urban Roads, drainage and asset management project, five National Highway projects worth Rs 2,500 crore, the Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project, and Working Women Hostels at nine locations.
In Imphal, the Prime Minister will inaugurate projects worth over Rs 1,200 crore, including the Civil Secretariat, IT SEZ Building, New Police Headquarters at Mantripukhri, Manipur Bhawans in Delhi and Kolkata, and Ima Markets in four districts.
