PM Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday accused opposition parties of spreading rumours about Citizenship Bill. Addressing a rally in Amingaon of Assam, the Prime Minister launched a scathing attack on Congress and other opposition parties saying people who sit in AC rooms are spreading rumours about the bill. He also promised that the BJP government will ensure that the 36-year-old demand of implementing Assam Accord is fulfilled.
He further said that Assam will become oil and gas hub of country with projects worth Rs 14,000 crore completed in last four years. Earlier, Modi addressed a rally in Itanagar of Arunachal Pradesh where he accused the previous Congress-led governments of ignoring Arunachal Pradesh for decades. He said that the BJP government at the Centre has doubled the Central fund for the state in last four years and working to expand infrastructure in the border state. During his Itanagar visit, PM Modi also inaugurated several projects and laid foundation stone of many vital schemes worth over Rs 4,000 crore. He laid the foundation stone for construction of greenfield Airport at Hollongi and inaugurated a retrofitted airport at Tezu in Lohit district through a remote. He also inaugurated the new Doordarshan channel for Arunachal Pradesh, DD Arun Prabha. Besides, he dedicated to the nation the 110 MW Pare Hydroelectric Plant and laid the foundation stone for a permanent campus of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) at Jote.
Earlier this morning, PM Modi was shown black flags in Guwahati at two different places on second day of his visit to the northeast over citizenship bill. On Friday as well, Modi was shown black flags as All Assam Students Union (AASU) protested and shouted slogans against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. A PTI report said that PM Modi witnessed the protests as he travelled to the Raj Bhavan from Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.

Prime Minister Modi said that his government was committed to providing shelter to those who are minorities in neighbouring countries and had to leave India during the partition in 1947. He, however, assured that Assam and Northeast would not be harmed in any way due to this national commitment.
Responding to Congress president Rahul Gandhi's 'chowkidaar' jibe, PM Modi on Saturday said, "Entire nation is watching how the opposition parties are startled due to the strict vigilance by this chowkidaar. They are speechless regarding their vision for the development of Assam and the entire nation."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that to rid Assam and country of infiltrators we have always strengthened voice of people. "That is why we did chitmahal agreement and are working towards completely sealing India-Bangladesh border. We implemented NRC under supervision of SC that earlier governments were hesitating to do," he said.
Prime Minister Modi assured the people of Assam that Citizenship Bill will not harm anyone. He said that citizenship will be granted after due probe and state government's recommendations.
PM Narendra Modi said that the BJP governments at the Centre and in Assam are committed to implement Assam Accord and setting up of committee for implementation of its Clause 6 is step in that direction.

Addressing a rally in Amingaon of Assam, Modi said that rumours are being spread about the Citizenship Bill. He said that the bill is aimed at securing the interests of citizens. "People who sit in AC rooms are spreading rumours. The NDA government is ready to fully protect the culture, resources and Northeast states' language."
Modi also promised to implement the Assam Accord in its true spirit. Addressing the crowd, he said, "We endeavour to implement Clause 6 of the Assam Accord at the earliest. Our government has formed a committee for the same."
While addressing a rally in Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the bridge built over Brahamaputra river with the cost of around Rs 2,000 crore will cut down travel time by more than one hour. The bridge was inaugurated by Modi recently.

Modi's visit comes amid protests against the citizenship bill. He was shown black flags in at least two places in Guwahati on Saturday morning. The PM is on a two-day visit to the Northeast Friday.
In his address at Itanagar, PM Modi said that in the last two years, around 1,000 villages have been connected through roads. The work of Trans Arunachal highway is also under progress. In an effort to connect all the capitals of North East states, Itanagar has also been connected with the Railways. "We are emphasizing on power generation. Today 12 hydro electric projects of 110 MW were inaugurated which will not only help Arunachal Pradesh but also adjoining states," he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Guwahati late last evening. This is Modi's third visit to Assam since December 25, 2018 when he inaugurated the Bogibeel bridge. In his second visit on January 4 this year, the PM had told a rally in Silchar that the Citizenship Bill would be passed by Parliament soon, triggering widespread protests in the state.
Addressing the crowd in Itanagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Arunachal Pradesh is a land of rising sun. "It’s a confidence of the country," he said.
Attacking the previous Congress governments, Modi said that they neglected Arunachal Pradesh for decades but we are here to change this. 'New India can only be built if North East can be developed well,' he said.
Address a public meeting in Arunachal Pradesh's capital Itanagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that his governmet allocated Rs 44,000 crore fund to Arunachal Pradesh which is double the amount provided by the previous government.
