A passenger onboard Air India flight AI2845 was found dead after the aircraft landed in Lucknow from Delhi on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Asifullah Ansari.
The incident occurred after the flight touched down at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at around 8:10 am. Crew members attempted to interact with the passenger but received no response.
Medical personnel onboard examined him and confirmed his death. Notably, the passenger’s seatbelt was still fastened, suggesting he may have died midair.
Authorities have stated that the exact cause of death will be determined following a postmortem examination. Meanwhile, police have launched a detailed investigation into the case.
This tragic incident comes amid growing scrutiny of Air India’s passenger handling practices. Earlier this month, an 82-year-old woman reportedly suffered a brain stroke after falling at Delhi airport. Her family alleged that a pre-booked wheelchair was not provided by Air India staff, leading to the fall. The airline, however, denied the claim, calling the allegations “baseless.”
