Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2 PM following an uproar by Opposition MPs in the House over various issues, including revision of electoral rolls in Bihar.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will speak in the Rajya Sabha at around 2.00 pm on Operation Sindoor, reports ANI. The debate on Operation Sindoor is ongoing in the Parliament.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address both Houses of Parliament on Operation Sindoor, criticising the government’s handling of the issue.

“We had demanded a special session, but it was denied. We also sought an all-party meeting chaired by the PM; that too didn’t happen,” she said. Chaturvedi expressed disappointment that a discussion wasn’t held on the first day of the session and called for clarity on India’s strategy, particularly regarding Pakistan.

“I hope the PM answers those who are prioritising cricket over the national interest,” she added in a sharp remark.

Trinamool Congress MPs stage a protest in the Parliament complex against ECI amid ongoing SIR issue.

After multiple disruptions in Parliament over SIR, the INDIA Bloc MPs again on Tuesday staged a protest inside Parliament premises against the Election Commission of India over the issue of Bihar SIR.

Ahead of the debate on Operation Sindoor in Parliament, IUML MP ET Mohammed Basheer said, “On Monday, during the discussion, we highlighted all the issues and asked about security lapses…Today, on behalf of the IUML party, I will be speaking. We are also protesting against SIR. The government has not yet said whether or not they will allow a discussion on the issue.”

After Congress dropped Manish Tiwari and Shashi Tharoor from the speaker’s list, BJP MP Baijayant Panda said it would have been fun to debate Operation Sindoor in the Parliament if Congress had given a free hand to its MPs.

Panda says, “It would have been fun if you (Congress) had given a free hand. Many of your leaders speak really well. My friend Shashi Tharoor speaks really well, but his leadership does not allow him to speak on behalf of the party. But I felt really good that no one could stop him from speaking in favour of the country…”

In response to Rajnath Singh’s address in the Parliament on Operation Sindoor, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said, “Rajnath Singh yesterday said in Lok Sabha that our intention was not to take PoK. This is a very serious thing. The BJP had repeatedly stated in the past that it would take PoK. It is clear that this government does not want to fight with Pakistan; they don’t want to make ‘Akhand Bharat’ and not take back territory illegally occupied by Pakistan. This statement should be condemned…”

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala on Tuesday moved a notice under Rule 267 seeking suspension of business in the Upper House to discuss the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.

In his letter to the Rajya Sabha Secretary-General, Surjewala demanded suspension of the Zero Hour, Question Hour, and other scheduled business to raise concerns over the SIR exercise, citing a lack of transparency and safeguards. He warned that such actions risk excluding vulnerable communities from voter rolls.

The INDIA bloc has been protesting the issue and plans a demonstration at Parliament’s Makar Dwar at 10:30 AM today.

Both leaders were notably dropped from the list of speakers in Parliament during the ongoing debate on Operation Sindoor, despite being part of the foreign outreach programme.

Responding to his exclusion from the probable speakers’ list, Tewari took to X and posted a cryptic verse:

"Hai preet jahaan ki reet sada
Main geet wahaan ke gaata hoon
Bharat ka rehne waala hoon
Bharat ki baat sunata hoon".

Congress MP Hibi Eden has moved a motion for the adjournment of the business of the house to discuss the issue concerning “the illegal arrest, fabricated charges, denial of bail, and mob violence against two Catholic nuns in Chhattisgarh, stating that it is an attack on the foundational principles of religious freedom, secularism, and the rule of law.”

On Day 7, the Lok Sabha will continue its discussion on Operation Sindoor for the second day. The Standing Committees on Communications and Information Technology will also table their reports on the action taken by the government on the recommendations made by these panels on various subjects, according to ANI.

Apart from this, reports of standing committees on Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj will also be presented in the Lok Sabha.

Jaishankar in Parliament said that multilateral groups such as Quad and BRICS condemned April 22 Pahalgam attack, so did many individual countries.

EAM Jaishankar said that there were no calls between PM Modi and US President Trump from April 22 to June 17.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is detailing India’s diplomatic response following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. “Our diplomatic task was to shape global perception of the Pahalgam attack,” Jaishankar said. “We conveyed two clear messages to the international community – zero tolerance for terrorism and India’s unwavering right to defend itself,” he added.

He noted that these messages were communicated firmly and consistently, which helped rally international support for India’s counter-terror operations.

Referring to Operation Sindoor, the minister said the mission had “achieved its objectives” under highly challenging conditions. “The safe rescue of Indian nationals was carried out successfully, demonstrating both India’s capabilities and its commitment,” he added.

The Congress MPs who were part of the multi-party foreign delegation following Operation Sindoor, have been left out from the party’s list of speakers for the debate on it in Parliament.

According to an Indian Express report, a Congress MP said, “The delegations represented India abroad and spoke in favour of the government. Now, it is time to voice the concerns of the Opposition and people of India, and hence, the party has picked new people to speak in the House.”

Gaurav Gogoi opened the debate from Congress’ side.

Speaking during Operation Sindoor discussion in the Lok Sabha, TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee slammed the PM for not criticising Trump on his India-Pak ceasefire comments. “PM Modi, why once you couldn’t post on your ‘X’ handle that whatever the American President said is incorrect… The moment you stand in front of the American President, your height is reduced to 5 feet, and your chest is reduced to 36 inches from 56 inches. Why are you so afraid of the American President?”

“The American president is deciding the ceasefire. He happens to be the first person to announce this. Why?,” questions Kalyan Banerjee.

Speaking in debate on Operation Sindoor, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi says, “… The entire country, and the Opposition, were supporting PM Modi. Suddenly, on 10th May, we got to know that there had been a ceasefire. Why? We wanted to know from PM Modi that if Pakistan was ready to kneel down, then why did you stop, and to whom did you surrender? The US President has said this 26 times that he forced India and Pakistan to announce a ceasefire…”

Responding to the Centre’s criticism of the Opposition for questioning Operation Sindoor, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said, “We stand with the government in the fight against terrorism. The government must not view us as its enemy — but it also has a responsibility to tell the nation the full truth about the operation.”

Gaurav Gogoi questioned the government’s ceasefire move, asking, “If Pakistan was on its knees, why was there a ceasefire? Who did we surrender to?”

He cited former US President Donald Trump’s claims of intervening 26 times and alleged five jets were downed. “Rajnath Singh must clarify how many Indian or Pakistani fighter jets were actually downed,” he said.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi cited the Chief of Defence Staff’s interview with Bloomberg in Singapore, questioning, “Why did the CDS mention firing from afar—what were the restrictions?”

“If some Rafale jets have been downed, I think it is a big loss,” said Congress’ Gaurav Gogoi in Lok Sabha. The country wants to know, 100 days have passed since Pahalgam attack, but this government has not brought terrorists to justice,” he adds.

He further asked, “Agar aaj Pakistan se zameen nahi lenge to kab lenge?” demanding clarity on territorial goals.

Gogoi also pressed the government to confirm whether India lost any Rafale jets during Operation Sindoor, urging transparency in military operations.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi questioned the government’s claims of success after Operation Sindoor, asking, “If Pakistan dares to strike again, how is Op Sindoor a success?”

He added, “If reclaiming PoK wasn’t the aim, why not admit it?”

Criticising intelligence failures, he said, “It’s been 100 days and the five terrorists behind the attack remain free—despite drones, Pegasus, and satellites. Where are the answers?”
