Operation Sindoor: The Indian Armed forces earlier today launched Operation Sindoor targeting nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan. Also attacking parts of the Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) region, it received a reaction from Donald Trump. He said, “It’s a shame. We just heard about it, they’ve been fighting for a long time… I just hope it ends very quickly.”

A heavy exchange of artillery fire is taking place at the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Wednesday. Coming days after the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor comes as a response to the 26 lives lost in the incident. After being in a cold-war for days over the Indus Water Treaty and airspaces, India opened fire. The missile-attack also struck Bahawalpur, the headquarters of the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group.

“It’s a shame. We just heard about it”: Trump responds

US President Donald Trump responded to the escalating situation, calling it a “shame”. He urged both India and Pakistan to step back and avoid further conflict. Speaking to reporters about Operation Sindoor, Trump noted that the two countries have a long history of conflict, going back decades and even centuries. He said he hopes the situation settles down quickly.

Following the attack, Trump said earlier that he was “very close to India” while also reinforcing that the US is “very close to Pakistan”. Press release from the Indian Embassy revealed that, “No Pakistani civilian, economic or military targets have been hit. Only known terror camps were targeted.” It further stated that, “Shortly after the strikes, NSA Shri Ajit Doval spoke with US NSA and Secretary of State Marco Rubio and briefed him on the actions taken.”

The strikes were part of ‘Operation Sindoor’, the Defence Ministry said in a statement issued at 1:44 AM , adding that the action was “focused, measured, and non-escalatory.” Rajnath Singh posted “Bharat Mata ki Jai” on his social media account.
