Operation Ajay Latest News: India’s Operation Ajay commenced in early morning on Friday when the first flight carrying 212 passengers landed at Delhi Airport. IT Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar was seen at the airport receiving the returnees. Chats of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Bharat’ reverberated the flight as it touched down in National Capital today.

Government of India is bearing all the expenses of the return flights for all those citizens who wish to return home amid escalating war between Israel and Hamas. Lauding Operation Ajay, Union I&B Minister Anurag Thakur said that India has been rescuing its citizens – be it coronavirus pandemic or recent Russia-Ukraine war. He said that not only Indians, New Delhi is also helping other nations. “Today, India does not ask for help, it offers help,” Thakur added.

Meanwhile, Israel’s military recently issued a call for the evacuation of Gaza City, a metropolis with a population of over 1 million, within a 24-hour timeframe. The move coincided with the deployment of tanks near the Gaza Strip, hinting at the possibility of an imminent ground invasion.

Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, declared, “Now is a time for war,” in response to a series of weekend attacks by Hamas militants that resulted in over 1,300 casualties, primarily among Israeli civilians. Israeli airstrikes on Gaza continued in retaliation.

The Israeli military stated its intention to conduct significant operations in Gaza City in the coming days, indicating that civilians would only be permitted to return once a subsequent announcement was issued. The military’s statement urged Gaza City’s residents to evacuate to the south for their own safety and that of their families, emphasizing the need to distance themselves from Hamas militants who are allegedly using civilians as human shields. The military further claimed that Hamas operatives were hiding in tunnels beneath houses and inside buildings populated by innocent Gazan civilians.

Hamas, on the other hand, dismissed the relocation warning as “fake propaganda” and urged citizens not to be swayed by it.
