Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed Operation Sindoor as a ‘symbol of price for every Indian’ while delivering the 129th edition of his monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme on Sunday. He said that today’s India has learnt not to compromise on its security. The Prime Minister also recollected various standout moments from 2025.

“The world clearly saw that today’s Bharat does not compromise on its security. During ‘Operation Sindoor’, pictures of love and devotion towards Mother India emerged from every corner of the world… This same spirit was also witnessed when ‘Vande Mataram’ completed 150 years…” the Prime Minister said in the last edition of his radio broadcast for the year 2025.

The PM said the new year is a few days away, he would want to reflect on all that happened in 2025. “The year 2026 is just a few days away. And today, as I speak to you, my mind is reflecting on the entire year. Many images, many discussions, and many achievements have brought the nation together,” he said.

India and the year 2025

PM Modi said the year 2025 gave Indians numerous moments that made them proud. “From national security to sports fields, from scientific laboratories to major global platforms, India left its strong mark everywhere. This year, Operation Sindoor became a symbol of pride for every Indian. The world witnessed that today’s India does not compromise on its security…” he added.

Talking about giant leaps that the country took this year, he said, “Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian to reach the International Space Station. Several initiatives related to environmental protection and wildlife conservation also marked 2025. The number of cheetahs in Bharat has now crossed 30.”

Remembering the moments from Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, PM Modi said, “Faith, culture, and Bharat’s unique heritage were all seen together in 2025. The organisation of Prayagraj Mahakumbh at the beginning of the year astonished the entire world. At the end of the year, the flag hoisting ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya filled every Indian with pride.”

PM Modi remembers freedom fighters ahead of Republic Day

The Prime Minister also talked about the 77th Republic Day that the country will celebrate on Jan 26, 2026. He said it would be a time to remember and express gratitude to our freedom fighters and Constitution makers.

“Our country struggled long for independence, with contributions from people across every region. Unfortunately, many heroes and heroines did not receive the recognition they deserved. One such freedom fighter is Parvati Giri from Odisha, whose birth centenary will be celebrated in January 2026,” he said.

The PM stressed that she participated in the Quit India Movement at the age of 16 and later dedicated her life to social service and tribal welfare, establishing several orphanages. Her inspiring life will continue to guide generations. “It is our duty to preserve this legacy and pass on the stories of our freedom fighters to the next generation. You may recall that during India’s 75th year of independence, a special government website was created, featuring a section called ‘Unsung Heroes’ where people can learn about those who played a pivotal role in achieving our freedom,” the Prime Minister added.

He also spoke on the tech initiatives that are being taken in the country. He said that sometimes, people express concern that robots might replace humans. In such changing times, it is very important to stay connected to our roots for human development, he added.

“I am glad to see that the participation of our youth in this initiative is increasing. A few days ago, a pitch competition related to this was held, in which more than fifty lakh young people participated. An essay competition was also held, where students expressed their views on various topics. In this competition, Tamil Nadu secured the first position and Uttar Pradesh the second. Young people in the country are getting new opportunities to showcase their talent. Many platforms are being developed where youth can display their skills and interests. Friends, the Smart India Hackathon 2025 concluded this month. During this hackathon, students worked on over 270 problems from more than 80 government departments…” he added.
