Odisha Assembly Election 2024 Schedule: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday announced the schedule for the Odisha Assembly elections. The announcement was streamed live on social media platforms of the ECI. Earlier in 2019, the 16th Assembly polls of Odisha were conducted between April 11 and April 29, 2019, to elect the 147 members.

The current Odisha legislative assembly’s term is expected to conclude on June 2, 2024. The elections will be conducted in four phases on May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1. The Election Commission of India (ECI) released the schedule for this electoral cycle on Saturday.

Odisha Assembly Polls: What happened in 2019?
In the 2019 Odisha legislative assembly elections, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) secured victory, forming the government for a fifth consecutive term. Naveen Patnaik took oath as the Chief Minister. Conducted in April 2019, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) won 112 seats out of 147, followed by the BJP at 23 and Congress at 9. The remaining were won by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and an independent candidate.
