As Bihar’s vote counting continues and numbers shift every few minutes, the Congress has taken a direct swipe at the Election Commission. Party leader Pawan Khera has claimed that the real fight in Bihar is not between the NDA and the INDIA bloc, but between Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the people of India.
Pawan Khera’s sharp attack as early trends favour NDA
Speaking to PTI, as the first trends rolled in, Khera said the Congress is still watching the early trends roll in. “This is just the beginning, and we are waiting,” he said. “The early trends show that Gyanesh Kumar Gupta is making an impact on the people of Bihar. The people have shown great courage despite issues like SIR and ‘vote chori.’ How effective Gyanesh Kumar Gupta will be remains to be seen. This contest is between the Election Commission of India and the people of Bihar.”
Khera even referred to a popular book title to make his point, saying the Chief Election Commissioner was working to keep the Prime Minister happy. “There was a book called ‘To Serve with Love.’ Gyanesh Kumar Gupta is writing this book for PM Modi,” he said.

The Congress has repeatedly accused the Election Commission of showing clear bias throughout the election season. ECI has firmly denied these accusations every time.
Meanwhile, as the political war of words continues, the numbers on the ground tell their own story. The NDA is steadily widening its lead as counting moves forward, with a clear win in sight.
NDA stretches its lead as counting moves ahead
According to early figures from the Election Commission, the NDA has crossed the majority mark and continues to hold a strong lead. As per the latest numbers, NDA is leading with over 140 seats. The Mahagathbandhan is trailing with fewer than 50 seats. These figures are still changing as more rounds of counting take place across Bihar.
The final day of counting began early this morning. Postal ballots were counted first at 8 am, followed by EVMs at 8:30 am. Trends were expected by 9 am, and the Election Commission has said that postal ballot counting must end before the second-last round of EVM counting.
As the clock ticks, the big question is, can the BJP–JD(U)-led NDA hold its ground and form the next government, or will the RJD–Congress-backed Mahagathbandhan pull off a comeback? If the NDA wins, Nitish Kumar, already Bihar’s longest-serving chief minister, will return for a record fifth term.
