Farmers from Noida and Greater Noida on Thursday marched towards the Parliament from the Delhi-Noida Chilla border to press for their demands for hiked compensation and developed plots against their land acquired by the local development authorities over the last four decades.

As the farmers marched, massive traffic snarls were seen at the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh borders. Traffic movement was also slow at various routes, including the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and DND.

Ahead of the protest the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police has already imposed CrPC section 144, which prohibits the assembly of three or more people, for Wednesday and Thursday.

The farmers have been protesting since December last year demanding increased compensation.
