The searches took place in several areas including Nadigam village in Shopian, Koil, Chandgam, Malangpora, Sambura in Pulwama district and Kulgam. Officials are looking for proof that may connect the suspects to a white-collar terror network involved in the Delhi blast, the report mentioned.
Key suspects under scanner
One of the main searches was at the home of Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Wagay in Shopian. Wagay is believed to have played a key role in recruiting members for the terror module. Raids were also carried out at the house of Jasir Bilal, who is known to be close to Dr. Umar Nabi, the suicide bomber in Delhi Red Fort blast case.
Investigators say Bilal is one of the key conspirators in the Delhi blast. He has a degree in Political Science from Qazigund in Anantnag and was allegedly planning drone-based attacks in India, similar to those carried out by Hamas, along with Dr. Nabi, as per the report.
Seven arrests made so far
So far, the NIA has arrested seven people in connection with the Delhi car blast – including Maulvi Irfan and Dr. Aadil. Five of those arrested are from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Umar Nabi, was also from Pulwama and worked as an Assistant Professor at Al-Falah University in Faridabad.
Officials confirmed that more searches were carried out at Koil, Chandgam, Malangpora and Samboora in Pulwama, all linked to suspects in the case. The agency also raided the home of Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather, who was earlier arrested from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh in early November.
