A report in The Indian Express said that Ali was a M.Tech student. She was pursuing her studying in a prominent agricultural university here.
Ali was a native of Kodungallur in Thrissur district. She succumbed to her injuries on Sunday after she was shot in the legs on Friday.
Her husband who has been identified as Nasir, was with her when the incident took place. He also suffered injured and now undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The couple had moved to New Zealand a year ago, a report The Indian Express.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan confirmed that a Kerala lady was among those killed in Friday’s tragic incident.
In a Facebook post, Vijayan expressed deep shock and informed that state government officials are are in constant touch with the Indian embassy in New Zealand through Norka roots.
“Deeply shocked to learn that a Keralite is among the victims of Christchurch (New Zealand) terror attack. We are following up with the embassy through Norka Roots. Our thoughts are with the affected family,” he said.
The Indian High Commission in New Zealand also said that officials are closely monitoring the situation in the country and are in touch with local authorities.
As many as 50 people lost their lives when a gunman opened fire at a crowd in Al Noor Mosque and Linwood Mosque in Christchurch on Friday during afternoon prayers. The incident invited sharp condemnation from the world leaders.
