The BJP had registered an unprecedented victory in the Haryana Assembly elections, the results of which were declared on October 8, by defying all odds and exit poll predictions, that had given an edge to the Congress, and won on 48 out of the 90 seats in the state.

This will be Nayab Singh Saini’s second consecutive stint in the office of the Chief Minister of Haryana. Earlier in March this year, he had replaced Manohar Lal Khattar, now a Union Minister, as the chief minister of Haryana, after the then Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala broke his party Jannayak Janta Party’s ties with the BJP and walked out of the alliance with his 10 MLAs. Khattar resigned after this and Saini was chosen as the CM when BJP formed the government again.
