Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday predicted a decisive victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and said that the third term of his government will be one that will be marked by some big decisions that will lay the foundation of a strong and developed India for the next 1,000 years.

Replying to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address in the Lok Sabha today, the Prime Minister said that the people of the country have made up their minds to ensure over 400 seats for the NDA and 370 seats for the BJP. In a no-holds-barred attack against his political opponents, the PM said that the Congress-led Opposition looks set to remain in the opposition benches for several decades.

“After looking at the Opposition lately, I can clearly see that they have resolved to stay there (Opposition benches) for a long time. Like you sat here (in the Treasury benches) for decades, you now appear to be determined to stay in the Opposition for decades. Looking at the hard work that you are putting in, there is no doubt that people will make your wishes come true,” the Prime Minister said while replying to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address in Lok Sabha.

Addressing the Parliament in its last session ahead of the general elections, the Prime Minister said that the Congress was entangled with one family and refuses to look beyond a single family. “Congress is entangled in one family, trying to launch the same product again and again. The party as well as the nation has suffered immensely due to Congress’ inability to look beyond one family.”

The Prime Minister further said that the Congress has been consumed by a cancel culture and refuses to acknowledge the developmental strides the nation is taking. “We say Make In India, they say ‘cancel’. We sat Atmanirbhar Bharat, they say ‘cancel’. We say Vande Bharat, they say ‘cancel’. Anything we say, Congress cancels it. They are so consumed by their hatred that they refuse to accept the developments of the nation.”

The Prime Minister further said that the Congress, in the UPA’s last interim Budget in 2014, had lauded India’s rise to the 11th rank in the world’s largest economies. “Now when we have got the Indian economy to the 5th largest economy, you say we have played no role. It is Modi’s guarantee that India will be the world’s third-largest economy during our third term. Had we gone by Congress’ unmatched speed, we would have taken 100 years to get there,” PM Modi said.

We built 4 crore houses for the poor. For the urban poor, we built 80 lakh pucca houses. Had these been built at the speed of Congress…it would have taken 100 years to do this work. Five generations would have passed by then.”

The Prime Minister said that the people are determined to ensure that the NDA crosses the 400 mark in the coming Lok Sabha elections, adding that the BJP would win 370 seats. “Our third term, which is not very far off, will be of some big decisions. Our third term will be one that will lay the foundation of a strong India for the next 1,000 years,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister also invoked the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and said it was among his government’s biggest achievements in its second term. “A decision that millions of Indians awaited for centuries, the construction of the Ram Mandir has not only marked the return of Lord Ram to his abide but we have constructed a grand temple that will be remembered for generations to come.”
