Mumbai Rains Weather: A day after heavy rains hit daily life of Mumbaikars, the city is gearing up for more wet weather as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has extended its orange alert for today (September 27). While the rain paused briefly after lashing the city on Wednesday, Mumbai woke up to cloudy skies and showers. More heavy rain is expected during the day, making it a challenging day for commuters.
The IMD has also issued a red alert for Nashik, with orange alerts covering Palghar, Pune, Nandurbar and Dhule. Moreover, almost every city in Maharashtra is under a yellow alert for the day.
Rainy days are set to continue for Mumbai. Starting today, temperature in the city is likely to range from 23°C to 31°C, with steady showers and a generally cloudy sky. This pattern will persist till September 29, with temperatures rising slightly to 24°C–25°C, keeping the city drenched into the weekend.
Commuter update
Heavy rain on Thursday caused waterlogging and major traffic jams, particularly on the Western Express Highway. Commuters should brace for delays as streets may remain flooded. Mumbai’s local train network continues to operate, but delays are possible if rain intensifies.
For those heading out, plan extra time for travel, avoid waterlogged areas and keep an eye on updates.
