Several areas in Bandra and Khar faced water disruption on Tuesday due to a major pipeline burst at Swami Vivekananda Road, near Lucky Junction, The Indian Express reported.

The BMC said that the leakage was reported around 2 am yesterday and that the repair works are ongoing.

A widely shared video on social media captured water gushing out of one of the pipe’s inlets, causing portions of S V Road to become partially submerged. According to the BMC’s statement, the incident involved a 600-mm main water channel, one of two key supply lines serving the Bandra area.

“At present, repair works are underway and water supply will remain shut in some areas until the repair works are completed. In some areas, water is being supplied, but with low pressure. Citizens are requested to use water sparingly,” an official said.

Former Congress corporator Asif Zakaria posted on X talking about the pipe burst at SV road.

“Major water main pipe burst at S.V. road at Lucky Junction, Bandra West Emergency repair team at work. All water supplies of H/West (Khar, Bandra) wards have been stopped until the assessment of damage and repair. Citizens kindly make note and take necessary precaution,” he wrote.
