Rainfall is expected to lessen and cease after Wednesday, leading to a rise in temperatures. However, IMD scientists have indicated that light showers and thunderstorms may continue over pockets of the district in the next 2-3 days, but no yellow alerts have been issued starting Tuesday.

Mumbai’s Weather Shifts Post-Monsoon

With the monsoon winds retreating from Maharashtra, the state is experiencing a rise in maximum and minimum temperatures. Although intermittent rainfall has been observed, meteorologists attribute it to cyclonic circulation from low-pressure systems forming over the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, rather than the monsoon.

IMD has forecast that the cyclone named ‘Dana’ will form over the Bay of Bengal by October 23, with its intensity increasing by Wednesday. The cyclonic system is expected to move towards Odisha and West Bengal, sparing Maharashtra from direct impact, as confirmed by weather experts.

In the coming 24 hours, the cyclone is predicted to strengthen in the east-central part of the Bay of Bengal, continuing its trajectory towards the northwest, with the likelihood of impacting Odisha’s coastal region by October 24.

While the cyclone may not pose a direct threat to Maharashtra, IMD has forecast sporadic showers in Mumbai over the next two days. Additionally, districts such as Satara, Sangli, and Pune are likely to see rain between October 26 and 29, with cloudy weather expected in places like Beed, Latur, and Nagpur.
