Ganesh Visarjan 2023: Anant Chturdashi marks the culmination of 10-day long Ganpati Utsav. This is the day when people across India bid adieu to their favourite Lord Ganesh. As part of the ‘Ganesh Visarjan’ advisory, the Mumbai Police has released a circular with details of new traffic restrictions. The authorities have made changes to the vehicluar movement across Mumbai to ensure trouble-free visarjan by the devotees. The police said that the Ganesh Visarjan advisory has been made to ensure that people don’t face any kind of inconvenience. The ‘bandobast’ announced by the Mumbai Police will come into force from 10 am in the morning and will continue till 6 am on September 29.
Entry of all heavy vehicles would remain banned in the Greater Mumbai area during this period. Only those who are part of essential services would be exempted from the Ganesh visarjan advisory. This means that milk tankers, vehicles carrying essential supplies such as bread, vegetables, and drinking water will be allowed. Water tankers, ambulances vehicles on government duties and school buses have also been exempted.
Ganesh Visarjan is one of the most awaited festivals in Maharashtra and thousands of people travel to-and-fro to Mumbai to experience the auspicious day with their family. To ease the movement, the Central and Western Railway of Mumbai has issued a circular.
As per the circular, Western Railways will be running special trains from midnight on September 28, the night of Ganesh Visarjan, from the Churchgate station to the Virar station along with 8 local trains. The Central Railways have decided to run around 10 special trains on the main line. The trains will run up and down from Kalyan, Thane and CSMT to the Belapur on the Harbour line.
In the light of security, the state government will deploy more than 11 thousand police force with other security forces in every nook of Mumbai.
