Sachin Kurmi, a leader from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Ajit Pawar faction, was murdered by unidentified assailants on Friday, October 4. Initial reports indicate that he was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon behind the MHADA colony in Mumbai’s Byculla area.
In a statement, the Mumbai Police confirmed that a case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway. They stated, “NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader Sachin Kurmi was murdered by unknown individuals using a sharp-edged weapon in Mumbai’s Byculla area last night. A case has been filed, and further inquiries are in progress.”
Authorities have noted that the identities of the attackers remain unknown, but they suspect that 2 to 3 individuals may have been involved in the incident. According to police reports, the attack occurred around 12:30 AM.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and transported the injured Kurmi to the nearby JJ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor. The police have since taken custody of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination.
