On the first day of the Monorail’s extended run of 14 hours,

it carried 15,016 commuters, bringing in revenue of

R1.32 lakh in one day, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) said in a statement on Wednesday.

Monorail’s timings were extended from Tuesday and it will run from 6 am to 8 pm instead of 7 am to 3 pm.

While the maximum number of commuters (5,329) boarded the Monorail at Chembur, Wadala recorded 3,636 commuters.

In all, 14,686 tokens were sold, along with 22 smart cards.
