All about Afzal Guru
Afzal Guru was a terrorist who was convicted for his role in the 2011 attack on the Indian Parliament in which 9 people died. He was a resident of Jammu and Kashmir. He was accused of giving logistics support to the terrorists who were involved in the assault. After years of legal proceedings, he was awarded a death sentence and was hanged in Delhi’s Tihar jail on February 9, 2013. His execution continues to be a debatable topic, especially in Kashmir.
Earlier on May 13, the Maharashtra secretariat had also received an anonymous email threat of a bomb. According to officials, the warning message was sent to the Disaster Management Control Room on Monday evening, claiming that a blast will take place within 48 hours. However, the location was not specified. After receiving the alert, police teams carried out extensive search operations at the Mantralaya complex. However, no suspicious materials or signs were identified during the probe.
Given the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, the Mumbai Police have remained on high alert. Security measures have been heightened at all the prime locations across the financial capital.
