A shocking case of love, betrayal, and murder has surfaced in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where a Merchant Navy officer, Saurabh Rajput, was killed, dismembered, and sealed in a cement-filled drum by his wife Muskaan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla.

Saurabh and Muskaan had a love marriage in 2016. Wanting to spend more time with his wife, Saurabh quit his job in the Merchant Navy. However, this decision led to tensions with his family, prompting the couple to move into a rented house, according to an NDTV report.

In 2019, they had a daughter, but their happiness was short-lived. Saurabh later discovered Muskaan’s affair with his friend Sahil. Although divorce was considered, Saurabh decided to stay for his daughter’s sake and rejoined the Merchant Navy in 2023.

Murder and cover-up

Returning home for his daughter’s sixth birthday on February 24, Saurabh was unaware of the gruesome fate awaiting him. On March 4, Muskaan and Sahil allegedly drugged him, stabbed him to death, chopped his body into pieces, and sealed the remains in a drum filled with cement.

To cover their tracks, Muskaan told neighbours Saurabh had gone on a trip. They even travelled to Manali, using Saurabh’s phone to post updates on social media. However, when Saurabh stopped responding to calls, his family grew suspicious and filed a police complaint.

Police Investigation

Meerut Police detained Muskaan and Sahil, who eventually confessed. The cement-sealed drum was retrieved, and a drill machine was used to extract the remains. Both accused are now in custody and will be presented in court.
