Delhi MCD By Election Result 2025 LIVE: BJP dominates with 7 wins; AAP bags 3 wards, Congress 1

Congress leader Suresh Choudhary has won the MCD bypolls from Ward No. 163-Sangam Vihar. He attributed his victory to the people of Sangam Vihar, stating that while many BJP leaders, including the Chief Minister, visited the area, they failed to ask for votes based on their work, which ultimately did not help them.

BJP’s Sumar Kumar Gupta who won the MCD bypoll from Chandni Chowk said that he would be working to resolve the issues concerning sewer, traffic jams, electricity and water. “The CM had promised to give Rs 100 crore fund for Chandni Chowk, and we will use this fund properly for the development of the area, and restore Chandni Chowk’s pride,” he said.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Ram Swaroop Kanojia has won from Ward No. 164 of Dakshinpuri in MCD bypoll. The BJP won 7 seats and AAP bagged 3.

He credited his victory to party chief Arvind Kejriwal. “I give credit for this win to Arvind Kejriwal, MLA Prem Chauhan and the public. I am very happy that we have won. I received a lot of love and respect here. Many BJP leaders came here for campaigning, but we continued working and secured a win. I will serve the public in my ward,” he said.

BJP candidate Manisha Devi has won from Dwarka with 13408 votes. She defeated AAP’s Raj Bala with a margin of 9100 votes.

AAP’s Rajan Arora has won from Naraina with 10423 votes. Arora defeated BJP’s CHandrakanta Shivani with a margin of 148 votes.

BJP candidate Sarala Chaudhari has won from Vinod Nagar with 10717 votes. She defeated AAP’s Geeta Rawat with a margin of 8948 votes.

BJP candidate Veena Asija has won from Ashok Vihar with 8384 votes. Asija defeated AAP candidate Seema Goyal with a very narrow margin of 237 votes.

BJP’s Anjum Mandal has won from Greater Kailash wth 8078 votes. She defeated AAP’s Eeshna Gupta with a margin of 4065 votes.

BJP candidate Rekha Rani has bagged Dichaon Kalan with 15282 votes. She defeated AAP’s Neetu with a margin of5637 votes.

All India Forward Bloc candidate Mohd Imran has won from the ward which had the maximum voter turnout in this MCD bypolls -Chandani Mahal. This can be seen as a big setback for BJP.

AAP is giving quite the fight to the BJP. Both the parties have 2 wards in their kitties as of now. While AAP has won the Mundka and Dakshinpuri wards, BJP hs won Shalimar Bagh and Chandni Chowk. Congress, on the other hand, has won from just Sangam Vihar as of now.

Congress candidate Suresh Choudhary has won from Sangam Vihar-A with 12766 votes. He defeated BJP’s SUbhrajeet Gautam with a margin of 3628 votes.

BJP’s Anita Jain has won from Shalimar Bagh B ward, which was earlier represented by Rekha Gupta. Jain has bagged victory with a margin of 10,101 votes in the MCD bypolls.

Rekha Gupta’s ward Shalimar Bagh is safe with BJP. The party has won from teh ward and also from Chandni CHowk. Meanwhile AAP’s Ram Swaroop Kanojia has won from Dakshinpuri.

The BJP is currently leading from 6 wards, while AAP is ahead in 4. All India Forward Bloc and INC are ahead in just one seat each. Here’s the graph from the Nagar Nigam app:

The BJP is leading in six out of the 12 MCD wards, including Shalimar Bagh, Dwarka, Greater Kailash, Mundka, Vinod Nagar, Ashok Vihar, and Dichaon Kalan, showing strong early results in the bypolls.

BJP’sSarla Chaudhary took lead of 1,245 votes in the second round from Ward No. 198. Counting is still underway. After two rounds of counting, the Congress candidate from Sangam Vihar has taken a lead with 1,275 votes.

BJP’s Suman Kumar Gupta has won from Chandni Chowk ward with 7,825 votes. Gupta has defeated AAP’s Harsh Sharma. 

The counting of votes for the MCD bypolls across 12 wards is currently underway in Delhi. Authorities have set up 10 counting centres across the city to ensure smooth and secure operations.

Visuals from outside the counting centre at DSEU, Shalimar Bagh, show tightened security and movement of election officials as the process continues.

Among the 12 wards where voting took place, Chandni Mahal reported the highest turnout at 41.95 per cent. It was followed by Sangam Vihar-A with 38.62 per cent and Mundka with 37.82 per cent voter participation. On the lower end, Greater Kailash recorded the lowest turnout at just 20.87 per cent, while Dwarka-B saw 23.72 per cent polling. Other major wards recorded moderate participation, with Chandni Chowk at 27.91 per cent, Ashok Vihar at 28.13 per cent and Shalimar Bagh-B at 28.28 per cent.

The Delhi MCD by-election was held in 12 wards, with voting conducted at 580 booths. A total of 51 candidates contested, including 26 women. These seats became vacant after the previous councillors were elected to the Assembly or Parliament. Chandni Mahal had the highest voter turnout at 55.93%. In the current 250-member MCD House, the BJP holds 116 seats, AAP has 99, the Indraprastha Vikas Party has 15, and Congress holds 8.

As the AAP and Congress work to rebuild their presence in Delhi, the BJP faces a crucial election, marking its first major test since its historic win in the February Assembly polls. After voting, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had encouraged citizens to cast their votes, emphasizing that voting is the key to selecting the right representative, which will help accelerate Delhi’s development.

The Delhi State Election Commission has established ten counting centres across the city, including locations like Kanjhawala, Pitampura, and Dwarka. Each centre will be responsible for counting votes in specific wards, with strong rooms where the votes are kept under strict security measures.

The Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are under constant CCTV surveillance and are being guarded by both paramilitary forces and Delhi Police. A total of nearly 1,800 Delhi Police officers, 10 paramilitary companies, and about 700 staff members have been deployed to ensure the smooth counting of votes today.

In Shalimar Bagh-B ward, the election is between Anita Jain from the BJP, Babita Rana from the Aam Aadmi Party, and Sarita Kumari from the Congress. Anita holds a B.Com degree, Babita is a lawyer, and Sarita claims to have completed 10th grade.

Both the BJP and AAP are confident about their chances in the upcoming bypolls. The BJP believes it is fully prepared for the election and is optimistic about its performance. They feel that voters expect good results from them and are confident that their work in the Delhi government and MCD will lead to a strong win.

On the other hand, AAP leaders also expect to win a majority of the seats. They believe that public feedback shows clear dissatisfaction with the BJP’s performance and a strong desire for AAP’s more accountable governance. AAP officials pointed out that residents have noticed a decline in cleanliness, sanitation, and basic services in the past nine months, and they see AAP as the only reliable option to fix these issues.
