Mumbai police detained a man on Wednesday after he entered the set of actor Salman Khan’s upcoming film in Shivaji Park area and allegedly threatened his bodyguard on the name of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Khan was not present at the time of the incident, officials said.
The accused, identified as a junior artist in the film industry, was stopped by Khan’s bodyguard upon entering the set without authorisation. A heated argument ensued, during which the accused used Bishnoi’s name to issue threats, as per the police complaint.
The Shivaji Park police registered a non-cognizable (NC) case under Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for criminal intimidation. Initial investigations revealed that the accused and the bodyguard were acquainted and had prior disputes, a police official confirmed.
In an NC case, authorities cannot make an arrest or file a First Information Report (FIR) without court approval. Salman Khan has been the target of multiple threats from the Bishnoi gang. In April, two members of the gang allegedly opened fire outside his residence. Later, police in Panvel claimed to have foiled a plot to attack the actor.
