Maharashtra Local Body Election Results 2025 Live: Modi thanks Maharashtra voters for backing BJP-led Mahayuti

Maharashtra Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule expressed confidence in Mahayuti’s performance in Jalna. He said the alliance is likely to win with a large majority, as people trust both Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He added that a strong government is needed for Jalna’s development, and this support will help the BJP alliance secure victory. He also expressed certainty that the party’s mayoral candidate would win in the city.

Ajit Pawar faction’s candidate Vanashree Sameer Shedge won the Mayoral post in Roha by a margin of 4695 votes.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) city president Jai Patil has won the Baramati Municipal Council elections for the fourth time. He defeated his opponent by a wide margin of 200 votes. Jai Patil has previously served as the deputy mayor and continues to hold strong support in the city.

In Chandrapur district, early trends show the BJP leading in the Rajura, Bhadravati, Ballarpur, and Gadchandur municipal councils.

The Nationalist Congress Party, led by Ajit Pawar, is ahead in the Brahmpuri Municipal Council, while the Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde, is leading in the Warora Municipal Council.

Milan Kalyanshetti, brother of BJP MLA Sachin Kalyanshetti, is ahead in Akkalkot, while Archana Rothe, sister of BJP MLA Pratap Adsad, is leading in Dhamangaon. In Murtizapur, Bhupendra, brother of BJP MLA Harish Pimple, is in the lead, and Chintan Patel, son of BJP MLA Amrish Patel, is ahead in Shirpur. Among the NCP candidates, Mohini Naik, wife of Ajit Pawar’s minister Indranil Naik, is leading in Pusad.

In Parbhani district, BJP candidate Milind Sawant has won the Selu Municipal Corporation election. He defeated Congress candidate Atmaram Balaji Salve by a narrow margin of 317 votes, securing 13,960 votes against Salve’s 13,643. The contest remained close until the final rounds of counting. With this win, the BJP has now secured both Selu and Jintur municipalities in the Jintur-Selu assembly constituency, represented by Guardian Minister Meghna Sakore Bordikar.

In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar’s Nilanga Municipal Council elections, a close fight was expected, but the results turned out to be one-sided. The BJP kept its hold, winning the mayor’s post and 17 council seats, while the opposition managed only six seats. BJP’s mayoral candidate, Sanjayraj Halgarkar, won by a margin of 3,032 votes. The party contested the elections under the leadership of Nilanga MLA Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar. The Congress, led by MLA Amit Deshmukh, had tried to challenge the BJP during the campaign but could not secure a win.

In the elections for 246 municipal councils and 42 nagar panchayats in Maharashtra, the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is showing a strong lead. Early trends indicate the BJP is ahead in 133 seats, while its allies, the Shiv Sena and the NCP, are leading in 46 and 34 seats, respectively. The Congress is ahead in 29 local bodies, while the Shiv Sena (UBT) leads in six and the NCP led by Sharad Pawar in eight.

Anita Gaikwad, the city women’s president of the NCP led by Ajit Pawar, has lost the Baramati municipal council election. Independent candidate Manisha Sandeep Bankar won the contest, defeating Gaikwad by a margin of 800 votes.

At the end of the sixth round, BJP is leading by 5872 votes.

In the municipal council elections held in Palghar district, the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde scored big victories in Palghar and Dahanu towns. BJP candidates, meanwhile, won in Jawhar Municipal Council and Wada Nagar Panchayat. In Palghar city, the Shiv Sena (Shinde) continued its strong hold, while the BJP suffered a setback. In Dahanu, the BJP lost control after a joint push by the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party.

In Jawhar, the BJP candidate defeated rivals from both the Mahavikas Aghadi and the Shiv Sena. The BJP also won the high-profile Wada Nagar Panchayat election, beating candidates from the Shiv Sena.

Maithili Tambe, the mayoral candidate of the Sangamner Seva Samiti led by former minister Balasaheb Thorat and MLA Satyajit Tambe, has opened up a strong lead of 13,000 votes. So far, counting has been completed for five of the eight rounds, with three rounds still to go. Candidates backed by the Thorat group have won 22 of the 30 corporator seats that have been declared. Balasaheb Thorat had earlier lost the assembly election across the taluka by a margin of 10,560 votes. In contrast, these results suggest a comeback for him, as Maithili Tambe has secured a clear lead from Sangamner city itself.

In Peth Vadgaon, a busy market town in Kolhapur district, the result went largely as expected. Vidyadevi Gulabrao Pol of the Yadav alliance won the Municipal Council election with 2,263 votes, reported Loksatta. The Yadav group secured a clear majority, winning 15 corporator seats, while the rival Salpe group won five seats. The election was seen as a prestige battle for both sides.

Although the mayor’s post in Vadgaon municipality of Hatkanangale taluka is reserved for the general category, the real contest was a traditional face-off. Former mayor Vidyadevi Pol, known as the town’s daughter-in-law, was up against Pravita Shivajirao Salpe.

There were efforts by independent candidates to make the race tougher, but the main question for voters was whether they would support the “daughter-in-law” of the town or the rival camp, Loksatta reported. Vidyadevi Pol, daughter of late Vijaysingh Yadav, a former silver jubilee mayor, contested from the Yadav Aghadi.

On the other side, Pravita Salpe, wife of veteran leader Shivajirao Salpe, entered the race under the Jan Suraj Shakti Party banner. The entry of independent candidate Prahlad Talugade briefly turned the contest into a three-cornered fight.

Early trends from the first two hours of vote counting in Maharashtra’s municipal council elections show the BJP in a strong position as the single largest party. The party is expected to win the president’s post in 95 municipal councils. Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde is ahead in 41 councils, while the NCP led by Ajit Pawar is leading in 32. The Shiv Sena (UBT) faction is ahead in eight councils, and the NCP led by Sharad Pawar is leading in 11.

The Congress is leading in 26 municipal councils and is likely to secure the president’s post in these bodies. Independent candidates and local groups are also doing well, with leads in more than 25 towns.

In Ahilyanagar (Ahmednagar) district, the Bharatiya Janata Party is ahead in the municipal council elections in Rahata and Pathardi.

The ruling Mahayuti alliance is also leading in the Shrirampur and Shrigonda municipal councils in the district, according to early trends.

In the Indapur Municipal Council elections, Ajit Pawar-led NCP mayoral candidate Bharat Shah is ahead by 157 votes after the second round of counting. He is leading over Pradeep Garatkar of the Krishna Bhima Vikas Aghadi in what remains a close contest.

The race for the mayor’s post is tight, but candidates from the NCP’s Ajit Pawar faction are leading in most of the other 20 corporator seats. So far, results have been declared for six seats. The NCP (Ajit Pawar) has won five of them, while the Krishna Vikas Aghadi has won one seat.

According to Loksatta, the BJP candidate is trailing in Pandharpur, while the Tirth Kshetra Vikas Aghadi candidate is ahead. In Akluj, the influence of the Mohite Patil group is again visible, with its mayoral candidate leading and the BJP candidate trailing. In Akkalkot, Dudhani and Maindargi, the BJP candidate is leading in the mayoral race.

Sangola is witnessing a neck-and-neck fight, with leads shifting between Shahaji Bapu Patil’s candidate and the BJP-backed Shetkari Aghadi candidate. In Mangalwedha, the BJP candidate is currently ahead.

Overall, the trends suggest that the BJP has struggled to turn its campaign into mayoral wins in the district so far. A clearer picture will emerge once the final results are declared.

Counting trends from municipal elections in Solapur district show mixed results so far, according to Loksatta. In Kurdwadi, candidates backed by the Uddhav Thackeray group and the Sharad Pawar-led NCP are close to winning the mayor’s post. In Karmala, the contest for mayor remains very close, with a local candidate in the lead and the BJP candidate behind.

The BJP suffered an early setback in the Dahanu Municipal Council elections, where Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) candidate Rajendra Machhi moved ahead. Machhi, the Shinde Sena’s choice for council president, was leading by 1,711 votes in the latest round, while BJP district president Bharat Rajput trailed behind. In Palghar’s municipal council elections, the Shiv Sena is also in the lead, with the BJP in second place and the UBT faction in third, according to reports.

From the start of vote counting in the Katol Municipal Council, Archana Rahul Deshmukh has stayed well ahead of the BJP candidate. She is the official nominee of the Shetkar Kamgar Party, backed by the Sharad Pawar-led NCP. Deshmukh took the lead in the first round itself and continued to widen the gap.

After five rounds of counting, she is ahead by 1,636 votes, pointing to a likely change in control at the Katol Municipality. The strong lead has caused unease in the BJP camp. Katol is seen as a BJP stronghold, and the result is an important prestige issue for local MLA Charan Singh Thakur.

The BJP has won the Tuljapur Municipal Council elections. Party mayoral candidate Vinod Gangane secured victory along with 11 other BJP candidates. Those elected are Mahantabai Sathe, Chandrashekhar Bhosale, Sagar Kadam, Saroja Amrutrao, Sunil Rochkari, Shweta Vaibhav Salunke, Manjusha Deshmane, Pandit Jagdale, Lakhan Pende, Audumbar Kadam and Nita Dinesh Kshirsagar.

As per early trends, BJP’s Ruchita Ghorpade is leading from Badlapur Kulgaon Municipal Council. Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction’s Veena Mhatre is a close step behind.

According to trends available at 11:10 am, the Mahayuti alliance is ahead in 161 municipal councils. Of these, the BJP is leading in 81 councils, the Shiv Sena in 46 and the NCP in 34. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi is leading in 40 councils, with Congress ahead in 22, the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) in 10 and the Shiv Sena (UBT) in eight. Other parties and groups are leading in 22 municipal councils.

Members and presidents of the Dondaicha Municipal Council in Dhule and the Angar Nagar Panchayat in Solapur were elected without any contest. The race for the Jamner municipal president also saw no competition. In several places, partners in the ruling alliance, the BJP, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP, are fighting against one another. The elections have also turned into a wider battle between the BJP-led Mahayuti and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, along with so-called friendly contests within both camps.

Early trends from local body elections in Maharashtra show different parties leading in various areas. In Sillod, the Shiv Sena’s Sameer Sattar is ahead, while in Kannad, Congress candidate Sheikh Fareen is leading. In Paithan, UBT’s Aparna Gorde has taken an early lead.

The BJP is leading in several seats as well, with Pradeep Patil ahead in Gangapur and Parshuram Bargal in Khuldabad. In Vaijapur, BJP’s Dinesh Pardeshi is leading through postal ballots, and Suhas Shirsat is ahead for the party in Phulambri.

In the first round of vote counting, Ajit Pawar’s NCP is leading in 17 seats in Jejuri. Mayor candidate Jaideep Dilip is leading by a major margin over BJP candidate Sachon Sonawane.

BJP has claimed its first mayoral victory in Kolhapur. Sunil Kavnekar has won the post in Chandgad Nagar Panchayat. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis personally campaigned for Kavnekar during the elections.

Three BJP ministers were elected unopposed including 2 from minicipa councils and 1 from gram panchayat. Members and presidents in Dhule’s Dondaicha Municipal Council and SOlapur’s Angar Nagar Panchayat were elected without any contest. Similarly, the post of Jamner municipal president went uncontested, according to news agency PTI. In other areas, even allies from the ruling side, the BJP, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP, are competing against each other.

Early results from municipal council elections across Maharashtra show mixed outcomes for the main parties, according to Jansatta report. The report added that in Nagpur district, the BJP won the Wandongri council and is ahead in Kamathi, while the Shiv Sena is leading in Itait and Ramtek councils. In Dhule district, the BJP has won the Dondaicha-Varvade council, and in Jalgaon district, it is leading in Jamner.
