Maharashtra Exit Polls 2019: Maharashtra witnessed a voter turnout of over 60% as the state went to polls on Monday. The state is witnessing a war of coalitions between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena up against the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party combine. A series of exit polls have predicted a second consecutive term for the ‘saffron alliance’. The exit polls have so far given an upper hand to the BJP-Shiv Sena combine, with some of the polls showing BJP winning a majority on its own. The India Today-Axis My India exit poll predicts the BJP+ would win 166 to 194 seats. The survey has Congress-NCP combine winning 72 to 90 seats.
According to the exit poll by News18-IPSOS, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance would win 243 seats in Maharashtra. The survey had Congress-NCP combine winning just 43 seats. The exit poll predicts that BJP would win 141 seats on its own in the 289-seat Maharashtra legislative assembly. The BJP contested on 164 seats, and the Shiv Sena fielded its candidates on 124. On the other hand, the Congress fielded 147 candidates and ally NCP contested 121 assembly seats.
Besides the overall trend, it will be interesting to see if Aaditya Thackeray’s decision to contest the assembly election has an impact on Shiv Sena’s overall performance. Aaditya, who is in the fray from Worli seat, is the first from the Thackeray clan to contest an election ever. The 29-year-old is seen by many as the future chief minister of the state.

The Republic-Jan ki Baat exit poll has predicted that the BJP-Shiv Sena combine would win 223 seats in Maharashtra. Polling for the assembly elections was held today across the state. Results would be declared on October 24.
The Bharatiya Janata Party is predicted to win 141 seats in the 289-member Maharashtra assembly, according to the News18-IPSOS exit poll. The survey had BJP's alliance partner Shiv Sena winning 102 seats in the state.

While casting his vote on Monday, Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar said that he was confident that there would be a change in the state. "Youngsters want change. The BJP and Shiv Sena ruled the state and people hoped their expectations would be fulfilled. That trust, however, has been betrayed," the NCP chief told reporters.
The Election Commission has prohibited media houses from airing, publishing Exit Polls in connection with assembly elections in Haryana, Maharashtra and bypolls in 51 assembly constituencies in 17 states.
Most opinion polls have predicted a second term in Maharashtra for the ruling BJP-Shiv Sena alliance. The exit poll trends would start to emerge from 6.30 om onwards.
Maharashtra had recorded a voter turnout of over 43% till 3pm. Several Bollywood celebrities, including Amitabh Bachhan, Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit Nene stepped out to vote on Monday. The state assembly polls will be a two-way contest between the ruling alliance of BJP-Shiv Sena and the Congress-NCP combine.
