Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Wednesday blamed Congress leaders in Maharashtra for the delay in seat-sharing negotiations for the upcoming assembly elections.

Speaking to reporters, Raut said the opposition alliance, which includes the Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and NCP (SP), will meet in Mumbai to address issues related to seat-sharing. The elections are expected to be held in November.

“The Congress is very busy these days, but we have called them to resolve this issue. They are so occupied that it feels like ‘tarikh pe tarikh’ (date after date),” Raut said. He added that leaders from Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP) will hold discussions from Wednesday through Friday.

While talks concerning Mumbai have largely been finalized, Raut asserted the need for regional discussions given Maharashtra’s size.

The Maharashtra assembly polls are likely to take place in October or November.
