Maharashtra Bandh 2024: The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has announced a ‘Maharashtra Bandh’ tomorrow, August 24, in protest against the alleged sexual abuse of two nursery  girls at a Badlapur school. The MVA announced that the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP will all be participating in the bandh.

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said there is no political motive behind the bandh called by the MVA on August 24.

A massive protest erupted in Badlapur town in Thane district on Tuesday, with thousands of people taking to the streets and spilling onto railway tracks. The demonstration was in response to the alleged sexual assault of two four-year-old girls by a male attendant at a local school.

Maharashtra Bandh: What’s open and what’s closed?

Public transport

There has been no support from the Maharashtra government for the bandh tomorrow. Therefore, it is likely that the public transport will function as normal.

Hospitals

There is no information regarding the closure of OPDs and hospitals on August 24, so they are expected to operate as usual on Maharashtra Bandh Day.

Schools and colleges

The government has issued no notification of any closures, so institutions are to operate as usual. However, those that typically close on Saturdays will remain shut.

Banks

The banks will remain closed tomorrow as it is the fourth Saturday of the month. RBI’s rules state that banks are to be closed on the second and fourth Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and regional holidays.
