A 30-year-old delivery man was allegedly murdered while he was delivering an iPhone to a customer, who was supposed to pay Rs 1.5 lakh in cash upon delivery for the item in Lucknow, police said on Monday.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashank Singh, the accused has been identified as Gajanan, from Chinhat, who ordered an iPhone worth about Rs 1.5 lakh from Flipkart and opted for the Cash on Delivery (COD) payment option.
Following the incident, the victim’s body was disposed of in the Indira Canal, and a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been deployed to recover it.

“On September 23, delivery boy, Bharat Sahu of Nishatganj, went to deliver the phone at his place where he was killed by Gajanan and his accomplice. After strangulating Sahu, they put his body in a sack and disposed it of in the Indira Canal,” officer said.
When Sahu failed to return home for two days, his family filed a missing persons report on September 25 at the Chinhat police station. While reviewing his call records and attempting to track his location, police discovered Gajanan’s number, which led them to his associate, Akash.”
During interrogation, Akash confessed to the crime, according to the Deputy Commissioner of Police.
The body has not yet been recovered and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team is currently searching the canal for the victim’s body.
