In his first foreign trip as Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi will be in the United States from September 8 to 10. During the trip, Gandhi will engage in various interactions in Washington DC and Dallas, including a stop at the University of Texas.

Indian Overseas Congress chief Sam Pitroda announced details of Gandhi’s visit to the US. “Since Rahul Gandhi has become the Leader of Opposition, I, as chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, which has a presence in 32 countries, (have) been bombarded with requests from the Indian diaspora, diplomats, academicians, businesspersons, leaders, international media and many others, for interactions with him,” Pitroda said.

Gandhi will kick off his visit in Dallas on September 8, where he will engage with students, academic institutions, and the local community. The agenda includes a public gathering, meetings with local experts, and a dinner with area leaders.

On September 9 and 10, Gandhi will travel to Washington DC for similar engagements. He is expected to meet with think tanks, members of the National Press Club, and other influential figures.

Pitroda expressed optimism about the visit, stating, “There are a lot of events planned with a variety of people because we find that people also have a lot of interest in the states we run with a Congress government.”

Gandhi, who celebrated his 54th birthday in June, has served as a Member of Parliament for five terms. He currently represents the Rae Bareli constituency, previously held by his mother, Sonia Gandhi. After winning from two constituencies in the recent Lok Sabha elections, Gandhi resigned from his Wayanad seat in Kerala, paving the way for his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to contest a by-election.

Gandhi first entered the Lok Sabha in 2004 by winning the Amethi seat in Uttar Pradesh.
