Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Congress, accusing the grand old party of failing to effectively deal with cross-border terrorism from Pakistan. He stated that this failure gave rise to the perception that India was a “weak and poor” target.
Addressing a rally as part of the election campaign in Jamui, Modi mocked the INDIA bloc, suggesting that those who previously pursued legal action against each other for corruption allegations were now uniting under the guise of opposing him.
Modi further went on the Congress and the RJD, allies of the INDIA bloc, accusing them of tarnishing India’s reputation on the global stage. He asserted that previous Congress governments failed to effectively counter terrorism, leading to a perception of India as weak and vulnerable.
Drawing upon India’s rich history, Modi emphasised the country’s strength and resilience.”Ours is an ancient country which has had powerful kingdoms like Magadh and legendary emperors like Chandragupta Maurya. Now, the world beholds a new India, which gives a befitting reply to the enemy on its own soil,” he said.

Furthermore, Modi boasted about India’s rising global stature, citing achievements such as being the fifth-largest economy, successful lunar missions, and hosting the G20 summit, which has garnered international acclaim. “The world watches in amazement as our global standing undergoes a sea change. We are able to defend ourselves. Our advice is sought by the world in important matters. We are the fifth largest economy, have launched a successful lunar mission and were applauded for holding the G20 summit,” he said.
“But, you all are mistaken if you think all this was made possible by Modi. It was made possible by your vote,” said the prime minister, who termed his achievements in the last 10 years as a “trailer,” he asserted.
“Should the corrupt not be in jail? I say remove the corrupt, they say defeat Modi,” said the PM while addressing his first rally after the poll announcement.
In Jamui, a reserved constituency, which was twice represented by Chirag Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party, now succeeded by his brother-in-law Arun Bharti, Modi expressed his sentiments, “I miss the presence of my friend Ram Vilas Paswan who was here with us in the last elections. But, I am glad to see that my little brother Chirag is taking his mission forward.
Furthermore, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, present at the rally, assured the PM of NDA’s victory on all 40 seats in the state, while wishing Modi a return to power with a 400-plus tally.
