Following the Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, congratulated the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), expressing hopes for the release of other AAP leaders currently imprisoned in Tihar Jail.
On Friday, the Supreme Court granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the corruption case linked to the excise policy ‘scam’. The apex court set Kejriwal’s bail bond at Rs 10 lakh, along with two sureties, and directed him not to make any public comments on the case’s merits.

“Congratulations to AAP family! Kudos for staying strong. Wishing also the soonest release of our other leaders,” Sunita said in a post on X.
AAP rejoices after Kejriwal’s bail
In response to the verdict, AAP leaders expressed their appreciation and support. Minister Atishi remarked,“Satyamev Jayate… Truth can be troubled, but not defeated.”
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha wrote on X, “Welcome back Arvind Kejriwal, we missed you! Truth can be troubled but not defeated! Finally, the Honourable Supreme Court has given its decision to release Delhi’s son Arvind Kejriwal from the shackles of jail. Thanks to Honorable Supreme Court!”
Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who had previously been released from jail in the same case, invoked Dr. BR Ambedkar in his reaction: “Today once again truth has won in the fight against lies and conspiracies. I once again pay my tribute to the thinking and foresight of Baba Saheb Ambedkar ji, who 75 years ago had strengthened the common man against any future dictator.”
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, who was released in April after his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the excise policy case, criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting,“tyrannical rule could not break the spirit of Kejriwal”. “Dictatorship will not work in democracy. It will not work. Dictators bow down, someone who fights is needed. Modi’s tyrannical rule could not break the spirit of @ArvindKejriwal. The prison locks were broken @ArvindKejriwal and released. A mountain of lies is falling, ED, CBI, BJP’s false case has been exposed. Satyamev Jayate!,” he added.
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in a money laundering case related to the now-scrapped excise policy. On June 26, the CBI formally arrested him in a related corruption case.
While the Supreme Court had granted him interim bail in the money laundering case on July 12, he remained in judicial custody for the CBI’s corruption case. Of the 40 accused in these cases, only Kejriwal and businessman Amandeep Singh Dhall are still behind bars.
