BRS president and Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao had a narrow escape on Thursday as he escaped unhurt after almost falling off the roof of an open-top campaign vehicle he was travelling on while campaigning for the party in Armoor city in Nizamabad district of Telangana.
A video of the incident, that has now gone viral on social media, shows KTR travelling atop a tempo traveller when the driver had to apply sudden brakes. As KTR and other leaders leaned on the railing guarding them on the roof of the vehicle, it gave way. The leaders, including KTR, Suresh Reddy and Jeevan Reddy, lost balance and fell down.
It was later reported that alert gunmen saved KTR from falling even as some others were seen tumbling down the vehicle.
On Thursday, KTR also officially filed his nomination from the Sircilla Assembly Constituency, a BRS stronghold. The seat is likely to witness a triangular contest between KTR, Congress’ Kondam Karuna Mahender Reddy and Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Mallugari Narsa Goud. KT Rama Rao performed a puja at Pragati Bhavan before heading to Siricilla to submit his papers.
In the 2018 Assembly elections, KTR own against Congress candidate KK Mahendar Reddy with a majority of 89,009 votes. Elections in Telangana are scheduled to be held on November 30 and the results will be declared on December 3.
