Days after a doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was raped and killed, the main accused, Sanjoy Roy, was sent to 14-day judicial custody.

He was sent to custody by Sealdah Civil and Criminal Court and was brought to the court under heavy security.

In another development, a special court in Kolkata allowed the CBI to conduct a polygraph test on Sanjoy Roy. A polygraph test is not admissible in court and is usually conducted to guide investigators in their probe, India Today reported.

The accused was arrested by the Kolkata Police a day after the incident came to light on August 9. The case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

On Thursday, a psychoanalytic profiling of Sanjoy Roy was conducted by the CBI. The profiling has revealed that he is a “pervert and severely addicted to pornography,” a CBI officer stated on Thursday.

According to the officer, Roy exhibited an “animal-like instinct” and showed no remorse during interrogation for the brutal crime committed inside the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

The CBI officer told PTI that Roy had no hesitation while describing the crime that sparked nationwide outrage. “He narrated every detail of the incident without any sign of remorse or hesitation,” the officer said.
