Tihar authorities have refuted claims made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s access to insulin, reports PTI.

The AAP has accused the Tihar administration of denying insulin to Kejriwal, who suffers from diabetes. The party has also alleged a “conspiracy” to “kill” him.

The Tihar administration, in a statement on Sunday, said that during a video conference arranged by the prison authority between Kejriwal and senior specialists from AIIMS, the issue of insulin was neither raised by Kejriwal nor suggested by the doctors.

“After a 40-minute detailed consultation, Kejriwal was assured that there was no serious concern and was advised to continue with the prescribed medicines, which will be evaluated and reviewed regularly,” according to a jail official.

The video conference was facilitated at the request of Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal. Along with a senior specialist from AIIMS, medical officers from Tihar jail were also present during the consultation.

The AIIMS specialist was provided with comprehensive records of Kejriwal’s glucose levels, diet, and medication details. The Tihar jail administration submitted a report to Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena, saying that Kejriwal had not been denied insulin during his treatment, as claimed.

Kejriwal has been in Tihar jail since April 1 after being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money-laundering case related to the Delhi government’s former excise policy.
